Cash Bonds as a Secure Investment

Cash bonds are among the classic savings and investment products in Switzerland. They are usually issued by banks and are primarily aimed at private investors who want to invest their money securely and predictably. A cash bond is a fixed-interest security. This means: Whoever buys a cash bond lends money to the bank for a specific term and receives a fixed interest rate in return. At the end of the term, the bank repays the invested amount.

Significant Differences in Cash Bond Interest Rates

The interest rate comparison on Nexano shows the current conditions of around 50 cash bond providers in Switzerland, updated daily. The common terms of 2 to 10 years can be accessed. As our comparison shows, the differences in interest rates for cash bonds are particularly significant. Let’s take today’s comparison data from August 28, 2025, for cash bonds with 5-year terms as an example. The providers with the highest interest rates are Caisse d’Epargne de Nyon and Caisse d’Epargne Riviera, each offering 1.05%. In third place is Saanenbank, which offers an interest rate of 1.00%.

It Pays to Compare

But what does that mean specifically? Let’s assume we invest CHF 100,000.00 on August 25, 2025, in cash bonds for a term of 5 years. At the end of the term, the following interest earnings will result:

  • At an interest rate of 0.25%: CHF 1,250.00
  • At an interest rate of 1.05%: CHF 5,250.00

The difference between the offer with the highest interest rate and the offer with the lowest interest rate is therefore CHF 4,000 over the 5-year term. A comparison of cash bond conditions is therefore definitely worthwhile.
