What to consider when comparing prices
A low product price is not always the actual final price. Consider the following factors when shopping:
- Shipping costs & minimum order value: Online pharmacies often charge shipping costs, which can negate the price advantage for individual orders. However, many providers offer free shipping from a certain minimum order value.
- Prescription medications: The online purchase of prescription medications usually requires sending the original prescription by mail. Alternatively, some mail-order pharmacies offer collection at a partner branch.
- Pharmacist fees (LOA): Many Swiss pharmacies also charge legally regulated fees:
- Reference check (CHF 4.30): Covers the management of the file and the security check (once per day/pharmacy).
- Medication check (CHF 3.25): Is incurred per prescription line for the professional check.
- Note: Some pharmacies explicitly waive charging these fees to customers.
